Shut Up & Listen feat. Emily & Kirsten

My name is Kirsten and my friends call me.... Kirsten.

I have been coming to Shut Up & Dance since May and my favourite part about it is the awesome SU&D community! I get to spend every week dancing with Emily and a ton of other cool people who like to shake it as much as we do, there's so much good energy in the room.

My favourite guilty pleasure track is anything High School Musical because it reminds me of my sisters and how much fun we had singing along together when we were kids.

Something that has changed since my first Shut Up & Dance class is my twerking - it's definitely getting a lot less awkward!

The reason I keep coming back is dancing makes me feel good! These classes make me look forward to Monday.

The Shut Up & Dance routine that best describes me is Bye Bye Bye (those boyband moves are the best!)

To pay the bills I work in university admin. If money was no object I would own a pie shop like that dude in Pushing Daisies... without the weird bringing people back to life stuff.

My most dorky moment this week was when I was listening to a really great song while walking back from dinner and started singing and dancing along the footpath - a guy approaching me was so alarmed he crossed to the other side of the street. 😂

The world would be a better place with more compassion and understanding of each other.

The routine I want to learn the most is anything Little Mix (or girl band!) related

My name is Emily but my friends call me Em.

I have been coming to Shut Up & Dance since May 2018 and my favourite part about it is getting to dance, have fun, catch up with Kirsten, and cut loose on a Monday night.

My favourite guilty pleasure track is “Ugly Heart” by G.R.L because it’s a jam, and so much #girlpower.

Something that has changed since my first Shut Up & Dance class is that I’m waaaaaaaaay less self-conscious about #1, dancing in front of people and #2, the upper lip sweat!

The reason I keep coming back is that there is such good variety of music and styles of dance each week that I get to try things I wouldn’t usually go for.

The Shut Up & Dance routine that best describes me is “Bad Romance” because it is kind of odd, a bit dramatic, but a fun time once you get to know it haha.

My life motto is “accept the things you cannot control” (also, I 100% never remember to follow my own advice).

To pay the bills I work in educational publishing. If money was no object I would have a lot of indoor plants, a pool, and travel every year.

My most dorky moment this week was when a pigeon was stuck in the ceiling at work, and I ran around the office doing a first-class pigeon noise (in front of the whole team) trying to get it out.

The world would be a better place with puppies and activewear allowed in the workplace.

The routine I want to learn the most is the “Miles in the Club/Til the Dawn” routine from the middle of the OG Step Up film. #goals
