Shut Up & Listen Feat. Kelsey Serjeant

My favourite guilty pleasure track is Prince's Little Red Corvette because it's a great one to holler in the car (not a Corvette), and I love the idea of Prince sitting beside me telling me to slow down, (as I'm in standstill traffic at the Basin Reserve).

Cut shapes, not mustard.

I knew that I'd never be a ballerina as I'd missed the boat, trying to start again midway through my twenties. However, a beginners ballet class for adults that starts with being told "You won't be a ballerina" isn't the class for me. That's LITERALLY the ONE reason I was there. To do ballet. To be a ballerina. For that small moment in my day to just feel something bigger or better than myself. To dream and imagine and spin and let go.✨

SHUT UP & LISTEN FEAT. SARAH PURDY

The world would be a better place with more loving, more patience and of course more DANCING in it. The routine I want to learn the most is Flashdance and if I could have a secret power it would be invisibility so that I could sneak into every SU&D class without looking like a stalker...

Meet Lesa MacLeod-Whiting

By night, however, it's pretty clear that she's one of those people you would rely on to deliver a seriously entertaining 21st speech.  Our entire conversation is coloured by an impressive display of imitations and accents.  The beer hardly makes it down my throat before she's cracking another joke that makes me nearly spit it out in laughter.

MEET CLAIR THOMAS

I love the fact that each week, Abby, Lesa and I come together to do the class and then eat with a bevvy afterwards.  Energy that's unspoken. People don't HAVE to be there, it's not work. You're just there cause everyone loves to dance and everyone loves to feel part of something.  All I want is to be happy and to give happiness.

It's about FEELING good

Allowing a film crew into one of our sessions compromised our philosophy around no cameras/no mirrors, but we're glad we took the risk.  Despite the different atmosphere, we still had so many people turn up for the class which resulted in a wonderful news story (that we love)

Parks Week with WCC

The way we see it: If you're already at risk of injuring yourself on any given day, we simply couldn't run our Outdoor Dance Class in Wellington's Civic Square with the rain pouring the way it was on Tuesday.  Fortunately, Thursday turned out to be a total success, with the wind easing off and the sun coming out just in time for the session.

Mum we're on the radio!

We met up with Access Radio at Customs on Ghuznee Street for a wee interview last week to talk about our classes, why we think they're pretty cool (we're so annoying) and what we've got planned for 2017.
