Keepin' our squad safe

Hi squad!

We’re gearing up to respond to the governments’ post-peak plan. You’ll find all the information you need to know about what we’re doing to keep our squad safe as we enter what almost feels like the next phase of the pandemic?! Scary! Strange. Confusing… Exciting? Maybe it’s not the next phase? Maybe every day is a new phase? Who knows!

*throws arms up in air*

*goes serious again*

Our aim, as always, is to operate in a way that ensures the continued safety and comfort of our team, their families and our wider community. You’ll find key changes to our approach below.

#1 Continued mask wearing

Please continue to wear a mask at all times (except during the class itself)! That means wearing it when you arrive, taking it off for the class, and popping it back on after the cool down.

#2 Keep your distance

As much as you love them, please continue to maintain at least 1 metre social distance between our fine instructors and your fine self. We will continue to enforce social distancing to ensure the safety and comfort levels of our team as they manage personal risks as well as those on behalf of their families and dependents.

Just remember, it’s not you – it’s just Covid!

#3 Doors open with 5 minutes

For now, we’ll keep doors closed until 5 minutes before the class starts as this minimises the amount of contact we all have with all surfaces and each other at our shared community venues.

This is something we’re seriously missing at the moment – we’re always so eager for a 15 minute chit-chat before class. But alas – our beloved pre-class chit-chat is on hold for a lil bit.

#4 Be smart & responsible

We all know the drill but it’s an important one. If you’re feeling any symptoms or waiting for test results, please cancel your class and book your boogie when you know you’re in the clear.

#5 Class capacities are still reduced & some venues are too small to justify running

Unfortunately small venues can’t run profitably with social distancing, and others that are running can be hard to get into – so there’s a bit of pressure on the waitlists. When you haven’t been able to secure a spot, it can sometimes make the classes feel exclusive – we know it’s hard and that’s not our intention.

We’re *thinking* we’ll continue an online schedule to help support this for as long as its useful and popular. PS: We’re starting to nail the audio situation!

But this time it’s not you and it’s not necessarily Covid – it’s literally the size of the venue!

If there’s a chance you’ll cancel, try to do so with as much notice as you can to increase the chances of someone else seeing that opening to take your spot.

#6 Keep calm, your credits won’t disappear

There are always humans on the other side of the hello@shutupanddance.co inbox to answer your questions and extend your credits. As you’ll know if you’ve contacted us, you don’t usually need to wait too long to get a response – we are here to help! All expiry extensions are done manually, so just reach out to us over email and we’ll happily sort you out.

#7 This is still a weird-as-heck time!

Please bear in mind that we’re operating with smaller profit margins and tighter resources across the board, so it’s important to us that we have our classes as full as they can be. We’ll still continue to enforce late cancellations (but will waive this if you’re cancelling due to Covid-like systems or are awaiting test results) and if you do see less of us on socials, it’s because we’re just at capacity. Thank you for understanding! We’ll get there someday soon.

And finally – at the end of the day we still don’t really know what is right or wrong. But we do know dance. So we’re just responding to the environment (and you wonderful lot!) as we go along to dance as much as we can. We’ve all seen and understand that things change on a daily, if not hourly basis these days – so if you have any feedback or questions or concerns, flick us a message – we’re happy to help and always love to hear from you.

*high five*
