#itsmymove

We’re super excited to announce that we’re working with Its My Move – a national campaign designed to meet the needs of young women when it comes to sport and recreation.  Factors like time pressure and lack of confidence mean they gradually participate less and drop out of structured activity at a faster rate than young men.

Whether the barriers to fitness are physical or perceived, we know what it’s like to disengage with physical activity because we’ve been there ourselves. We’ve ABSOLUTELY experienced barriers to physical activity and sport, and therefore wellness – as teenagers. Perhaps you have too? That’s why we’re incredibly excited to be a part of changing the narrative through our fun, judgement-free and epically exciting classes in a virtual format with the support of the #itsmymove campaign.

So how do we support young girls, non-binary and trans aged 14-17 in leading healthy, active lives? It starts by understanding what matters to them.

We’ve been working hard in the background to develop OnDemand content for them, as well as a live-streamed schedule – both of which will be available for free on our website www.shutupanddance.co/online and Instagram @shutupanddancenz (also on @itsmymove_nz) on Tuesday’s at 4pm with Karli and Thursdays at 4.30pm with Hannah.

We’ll be shifting and evolving our offering to meet the needs of the young people we’re developing this content for – so get your teens to find us on Instagram @shutupanddancenz & tune in to a live class, watch a saved one, send us routine requests and tell us what they want.

This is about what’s right for them. This is #itsmymove
